commotion1Set in the Queens Museum’s Panorama, COMMotion examined NYC through the lens of the daily commute. Participants held up smartphones or tablets at spots around the Panorama to see the maps of individual commutes laid over the model of New York City. These documentary maps, based on input from communities across the five boroughs, told the stories of individual commuters to sketch a larger narrative of transition. COMMotion was designed to raise larger questions about what the city is, what it is becoming and what it could be.
